From Excavation to Finished Exterior in Four Months

This Reading, Massachusetts home addition began during challenging winter conditions and progressed from excavation to a fully finished exterior in approximately four months.

Phase 1: Excavation and Site Preparation

The project began with layout and excavation through snow and frozen ground. The site was carefully prepared for the new foundation while maintaining access to the existing home.

Phase 2: Foundation

After excavation, the concrete footings, foundation walls, insulation, and basement slab were completed. This created a strong, properly prepared base for the new two-story addition.

Phase 3: Structural Framing

Once the foundation was ready, framing began. Floor systems, exterior walls, window openings, and the roof structure were built, transforming the plans into a full-size addition connected to the existing house.

Phase 4: Exterior Sheathing and Weather Protection

ZIP System exterior sheathing was installed and all seams were sealed to help create a durable, weather-resistant building envelope. Roofing, windows, exterior doors, and trim followed, allowing the structure to be protected from the weather.

Phase 5: Siding and Exterior Completion

The final exterior phase included siding designed to match the existing home, window and roof trim, fascia, soffits, and other finishing details. The completed addition blends naturally with the original house and looks as though it has always belonged there.

From winter excavation to a finished exterior, Alvesco Construction completed all exterior work in approximately four months. This project demonstrates the importance of careful planning, dependable subcontractors, proper scheduling, and consistent project supervision.
